my background and experience

I'm Senior Learning Technologist at Royal Holloway University. My responsibilities include the promotion, management, development, delivery and evaluation of the rapidly changing and increasing use of online learning technology, including Virtual Learning Environments such as Moodle and Blackboard, online assessment systems such as Question Mark, communication solutions such as Wimba Suite and Interwise, and electronic plagiarism detection systems such as Turnitin.

I have previously worked for new media companies and provided expertise and advice on web design, web usabilty, search engine optimisation, e-learning development and sales support, and heueristic testing of web and e-learning interfaces

I also advise, encourage and support the use of Web 2.0 tools for pedagogically-focused social networking and social bookmarking such as facebook, blogs, del.icio.us and twitter

As a freelance Moodle developer, consultant and new media trainer I have delivered change in a number of organisations in the public and private sector. My client list includes Napier University Edinburgh, International Alert, The Orcadian, Dyslexia Action, Academy Internet, Royal Bank of Scotland International, Research in Motion, British Aerospace and Leon Legal.

My qualifications include an MSc in Multimedia and Information Technology, a Post-grad qualification in Teaching in Higher Education, and a BA Degree in Information Management. I am also an Associate Member of the Higher Education Academy.
